So how can we relieve ourselves of stress and anxiety? There are many easy techniques and strategies that you can apply to your life to get your stress levels under control. Here are some effective ways on how to de stress your mind easily:

1. Stay Positive – The ability to stay positive during challenges or obstacles has the power to reduce stress and anxiety. The power of positive thinking helps you to find a solution to a problem instead of worrying about it. It is important to always have a positive outlook in life and the stress in your body will slowly fade away.

2. Get Rid of Negative Energy – The environment you surround yourself in can significantly affect your mood or personal habits.You may not be aware of it, but we can absorb a lot of negative energy from our workplace, friends, watching the TV and dealing with negative people can all lead to stress and anxiety. So it is important to surround yourself with positive imagery, thoughts and optimistic people.

3. Listen To Soothing Music – The sound of soft soothing sounds or music been proven to be a great stress reliever as it has the power calm our mind and body. Music has the power to alter our moods, thoughts and feelings. When you listen to your favourite song it immediately makes you feel happier, light and positive which can be helpful to our mental well being.

4. Be Active – Exercise is a proven stress relief technique as it is considered as a great way to relieve stress. This can be a great outlet to get rid of negative energy that you may absorb from a stressful environment and it can help to lift your spirit. The benefit of exercise of is that it can not only make you fit, but it can help your mind to be sharp and alert.

5. Adopt A Healthier Diet – A well balanced diet could make the difference between feeling mentally drained and having an abundance of slow releasing energy throughout the day. Just by eating a healthy diet which includes healthy foods such as bananas, fish (omega 3), green leafy vegetables can radically increase your focus and provide a calming effect on your mind and body.

6. Build A Support Network – Building a strong support network of friends and family is so important when it comes to dealing with stressful events that come your way. Just by talking to your friends and family about your problems can really help you to ease your stress related problems. It is important to share your problems with others as they can provide possible solutions to the problems you may be facing.

7. Create Self Improvement Habits – Self improvement is essential to minimising the pressures of life, as it helps you improve your emotional and mental wellbeing. This can be achieved this by reading or listening to self development books and courses to teach you how to create positive habits.

8. Learn To Create A Peaceful Environment – This may seem impossible when you are feeling stressed out at work or at home. Yet, by simply investing a few minutes of your time to create a more relaxed environment can change how you feel and process unforeseen problems. This can be achieved by putting screen saver pictures of places or destinations that you want to go on your computer while at work.

In addition, it also helps to de-clutter your work or home space of unwanted items so that you become more organised. It is all about making your environment as stress free as possible. Stress must be managed right away to avoid serious health complications in the future. By incorporating these simple stress management techniques to your lifestyle you are one step closer of achieving the healthier and better you.

    Wake up earlier and use it for relaxation. Don´t do anything, just take those ten minutes and spend them to you. Do not think about upcoming day or anything else that is bothering you. Simply sit quietly and enjoy the moment. Great tips! Unfortunately, I’m not that good with visualization unless I’m in the proper setting/environment.

    Hi Eva,

    You have a very helpful post here. De – stressing is quite hard when your mind is full so shake off the stress by exercising.

    Exercise pumps up your endorphins (feel-good hormones) and decreases your stress hormones. It also reduces chronic muscle tension, helps you sleep better, and decreases anxiety.
